The basics

The basics

What is Bursavo?

Bursavo is a free information website for students and families. We explain college grants, scholarships, FAFSA, and ways to manage college costs in plain language, and you can opt in to updates by email or text. We are not a government agency, school, or lender.

Is Bursavo connected to the government or the FAFSA?

No. Bursavo is a private information service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, FAFSA®, or any state or federal agency. The official FAFSA form is free and is available at studentaid.gov.

Does Bursavo cost anything?

No. Bursavo is free. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply if you choose to receive text messages.

Do you give out grants or scholarships, or apply for me?

No. Bursavo does not give out, offer, or process grants, scholarships, or loans, and we never submit applications for you. Awards come from schools, government programs, and other organizations, and you apply to them directly.

Grants, scholarships, and costs

Grants, scholarships, and costs

Can you promise I will receive a grant or scholarship?

No. Whether you qualify depends on the organization offering it and on things like financial need, academics, school, field of study, and deadlines. Bursavo does not guarantee any grant, scholarship, aid, or savings.

How do grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans differ?

Grants and scholarships are generally gift aid you do not repay. Work-study lets you earn wages while enrolled. Loans are borrowed money repaid with interest. The Funding guide explains each one.

What are common ways students lower what they pay?

General examples include filing the FAFSA on time, searching for grants and scholarships from schools and other organizations, comparing net cost instead of sticker price, and asking a school's financial-aid office what is available. These are general ideas, not guarantees.

Who can see the details I submit?

We do not send your details to colleges, lenders, scholarship companies, or other third parties for their marketing. Service providers, such as our email and text platforms, handle information only to run the service for us.

What happens once I submit the form?

You'll see a confirmation and get an email. If you chose text messages, we also send a welcome text. After that we send the general information you asked about.

Am I required to agree to texts?

No. The two text-message boxes on our form are optional and unchecked by default. Consent to texts is not a condition of purchase or of requesting information.

What texts will I get, and how many?

Informational texts (such as confirmation of your request and general grant and financial-aid information) and, only if you opt in separately, promotional texts (such as new guides, deadline reminders, and college-cost planning tips). Message frequency varies, with up to about 8 messages a month. Msg & data rates may apply.

How do I unsubscribe from texts?

Reply STOP to any message. You'll get one final confirmation and no more texts. Reply HELP for help, or write to [email protected] any time.
